Brow Lamination: What is it and do I need it?

The short answer – it’s fab and yes, if you have eyebrows and want them levelled up then you need it! Brow Lamination is the latest craze for the beauty industry regarding eyebrows. If you’re guilty of over-tweezing in the 90s or have unruly brow hair that seems to point in every direction then brow lamination is for you. It essentially tames hairs and creates a sleek looking “Insta-famous” brow in no time at all.

First of all, what is it?

Brow Lamination (like a lot of amazing things in the beauty industry) was invented in Russia and even though it’s taken a while for it to make its way to our shores, it’s now one of the more popular treatments at salons here – and all over the world. It’s a fluffy, fuller looking brow using similar steps involved in lash lifting. It was developed as an alternative to microblading for those who didn’t want to commit to tattoo and became popular for those who still wanted more fullness, definition and style with the same look as microblading. The key benefits of lamination are that it’s painless, quick and gives you perfectly manicured brows that last.

So, what’s involved? Brow Lamination is the “lash lift” for brow hairs. Hairs are gently glued into position (upwards on an angle) and coated with two solutions, one to soften the hair bonds to make it possible to manoeuvre the hairs into place and the second solution helps locks the hairs into an upwards direction. The result? A fluffy, fuller brow that can be easily manipulated into position using a brow gel or brow soap and spoolie.

After a lamination, the hairs are soft and easily brushed into a more upward position to give the illusion of a fuller brow. Pair that with a hybrid tint and you’re looking at a new set of brows that you (and everyone else who sees you) will fall in love with. The hybrid tint stains the skin for up to a week too and gives an even more incredible result as the shape is super defined with the brow hairs brushed upwards within it… one word – STUNNING’!

FAQs:

What if I have minimal hair to work with?

You will have to have SOME hair to do the lamination as the process is essentially manipulating hairs into place but if you have very thin eyebrows or any patchiness then the lamination paired with a hybrid tint will still work and still look incredible.

How long does a lamination last?

Laminations (like lash lifting) depend on the hair growth cycle but typically a lamination can last anywhere from 5 – 8 weeks.

What’s the aftercare?

You’ll need to refrain from getting the brows wet for 24 hours after the lamination but after that, you’re free to wash your face as usual. Using a brow gel or brow soap daily will help keep your brows looking super sleek and gorgeous all day – every day, until you need your next lamination!

How much does it cost?

A lamination alone costs $70 but paired with a hybrid tint (recommended for a real WOW effect) is $85.

How long does it take?

Typically, around 45 minutes. But if you talk a lot like me, then allow yourself an hour.
